The funding comes from the European Fund for Regional Development, distributed as part of the Operational Programme "Transport." The funding recipient is the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate, which will supervise the projects' implementation. Co-financing is provided within the framework of Priority Axis 4 - Upgrading of Class I Roads outside of TEN-T. To date, the total volume of financing approved for these projects in 2007-2008 represents more than CZK 12.585 billion.
"The allocation of financial support for these projects contributes to the provision of a high-quality domestic road network, which will have a positive impact on the relevant regions' economic and social climate and will help to reduce the negative environmental impacts of transport," states Alfred Brunclík, Director General of the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate.

In addition to providing funding from Priority Axis 4 - Upgrading of Class I Roads outside of TEN-T, over the course of 2007-2013, the Operational Programme "Transport" will also fund projects from Priority Axis 2 - Construction and Upgrading of the TEN-T Motorway and Road Network.
"Within the framework of these Priority Axes, the individual projects will receive funding from the Cohesion Fund or from the European Fund for Regional Development up to a height of 85% of total acknowledged costs," adds Brunclík. Total allocations from EU funds for the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate in 2007-2013 amount to 2,658,713,468 Euros. The remaining costs will be covered from the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and from EIB loans.
