New route of the I/57 road diverts traffic from Fulnek, Stachovice and Hladké Životice
On 25 November 2009, within the opening of the final section of the D1 motorway, which will link Ostrava to the motorway network, another two related thoroughfares are being placed into operation – a bypass of the I/57 road in Hladké Životice, and the Northern Junction in Ostrava. The newly opened bypass section of the I/57 road will significantly benefit the towns and villages through which the route has passed to date and smoothly connect transit traffic from the Opava – Nový Jičín axis to the new Brno – Ostrava motorway.
The implementation of the feeder road diverts transit traffic from the current I/57 road, which passes through the built-up area of Fulnek, the local district of Stachovice, and the village of Hladké Životice. As a motorway feeder road, it forms part of the transport network that serves to provide better transport serviceability of the Ostrava conurbation. “The diversion of traffic from the affected municipalities which results from the placing of this section into operation leads to higher safety of traffic and the local inhabitants, as well as reduced noise pollution and exhaust emissions from vehicles on the current road, and thereby an improved environment,” says Alfred Brunclík, Chief Executive Officer of the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic (ŘSD).
Building measures focused on prevention, elimination and minimisation of the construction’s adverse environmental impacts were already taken into account in the proposed route of the bypass of the I/57 road in terms of direction and height. It primarily concerns the route being directed in such a manner as to minimise contact with the residential built-up areas of the municipalities, settlements and protected landscape elements, which will result in the route being at the maximum distance from the aforementioned areas. In addition to the transport benefit, the placing of the bypass into operation will also lead to increased entrepreneurial potential in the region. The existence of the motorway feeder road and the motorway itself brings about secondary possibilities of making use of the area.
The structure of the I/57 road comprises 11 bridges with the total length of 840m and two noise barriers with the total length of 1,332 m. When the project was being drawn up, the conditions for the route’s passing through all the local and regional bio corridors were respected, crossings of water courses were designed with regard to the determined century-water level of individual water courses.
Stavba silnice I/57 obsahuje 11 mostů v celkové délce 840m a dvě protihlukové stěny v celkové délce 1332 m. Při návrhu projektu byly respektovány podmínky pro průchod trasy přes všechny lokální a regionální biokoridory v trase, křížení s vodními toky byla navržena s ohledem na stanovenou hladinu stoleté vody jednotlivých vodotečí.
