The RSD to engage specialists from the CVUT in preparation and planning of road infrastructure development

The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic (RSD) will closely cooperate with the Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT) during planning, preparation and realisation of road works.The key role of the CVUT specialists will be the opponent's review of projects and structure pricing to achieve a more effective structure preparation and the overall planning.That, according to the new RSD management, will lead to greater savings in the whole segment of road infrastructure development.

The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic (RSD) will closely cooperate with the Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT) during planning, preparation and realisation of road works.The key role of the CVUT specialists will be the opponent's review of projects and structure pricing to achieve a more effective structure preparation and the overall planning.That, according to the new RSD management, will lead to greater savings in the whole segment of road infrastructure development.

The Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic has signed a three year contract with the Czech Technical University. The contract content is mainly the CVUT opponent reviews, research and and development in the planning and preparation of construction projects. Furthermore, participation in teams to create short- and long-term strategy, vision and policy for road infrastructure and conceptual issues of telematics solutions. „We would like the CVUT specialists to provide more expert services. Specifically,they will be invited not only to road infrastructure development planning, but also to the process of pricing, construction preparation and other areas“ says the RSD Director General Jiří Švorc.

Another point in the contractual partnership is cooperation in preparing and evaluation of tenders. In this respect, The Road and Motorway Directorate hopes to achieve primarily cost savings in structure realisations. „ We want to get effective opponent's reviews on the planning engineers' works from the specialists.“ Says Jiří Švorc. The Czech Technical University will also carry out safety audits and treatment of critical infrastructure, or assist in development of independent certification authorities in the field.

A substantial part of the cooperation between the RSD and the CVUT will also cover activities on campus. The Road and Motorway Directorate wants to get more involved in training of new professionals in the field of road engineering. Therefore, in the contract, the RSD also offers professional lectures and presentations for students directly in field conditions, or opponent's reviews of bachelor's, master's and doctoral theses.

Working with practice is very important for our academic activity. We have agreed not only on technical cooperation, but also on a possibility of student project realisation and a concrete cooperation within the training“ the Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of CVUT , Prof. Dr. Ing. Miroslav Svítek specifies the cooperation with the Road and Motorway Directorate.
