Further Advance in the Construction of Motorway D47

On Friday, March 25th, Road and Motorway Directorate started construction of a further section of Motorway D47 "Construction 4707 Bílovec - Ostrava, Rudná" with a festive tap on the foundation stone. The official opening of the Information Centre of the Construction of Motorway D47 will take place together with this event. The Minister of Transportation will be present at the opening of the information centre.


Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic welcomes rejection of the proposed change of territorial plan for Motorway D8 by local authorities of the Ústí nad Labem Region

According to Road and Motorway Directorate of CR, the decision of local authorities of the Ústí nad Labem Region to reject the proposed changes in the local territorial plan is felt to be a positive one. The proposed change, put forth by ecological organizations, includes an alternative route of Motorway D8 through a long expensive tunnel. With their positive approach the local authorities supported another significant shift in the building of the motorway.


RMD CR begins construction of Motorway D1 - Section 0134.3 Kroměříž West - Kroměříž East

Road and Motorway Directorate festively begins construction of a 3-km-long section of Motorway D1, 0134.3 Kroměříž East - Kroměříž West, on February 21st, 2005. Construction works will be under way from this year's March till September 2008. The project is co-financed by the European Union from financial instruments of the Cohesion Fund. The non-returnable contribution of the EU is 39,107,320 EUR - 76% of overall expenses. Road and Motorway Directorate (RMD) is the final recipient of the EU financial assistance and contractor of the construction. The remaining portion of construction costs will be covered by the State Fund of Traffic Infrastructure. (SFDI).

Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic has launched an independent web page about the construction of Motorway D47 Lipník nad Bečvou - state border CR/Poland under the address: www.viamoravica.cz. The web page will be in operation throughout the entire construction of the motorway.


Construction of Motorway D8, Construction 0805 Lovosice - Řehlovice: Investments into environmental measures reached more than one thousand million CZK

According to the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic, environmental measures necessary for the completion of Motorway D8 in section Lovosice - Řehlovice (16.4 km), requested by the Ministry of Environment, reached the total of 1,043 million CZK. The largest sum - 441 million CZK was designated for the 445-m-long tunnel Radejčín.


EU supports construction of Czech roads and motorways

Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic has become a final recipient of financial assistance from the Cohesion Fund for the following projects: Expressway R1 - ring road around Prague, Motorway D1 - Kroměříž East - Kroměříž West, Expressway R48 Dobrá - Tošanovice - Žukov. The amount of financial assistance (non-returnable grant) provided by the European Union for the development of trans-european networks in the framework of programmes co-financed from financial instruments of ISPA and the Cohesion Fund from the budget for 2000 - 2006 is 298, 485, 754 EUR.


The By-Pass of Plzeň Proved Effective!

On December 15, 2004 exactly one year has passed since RMD CR opened motorway constructions on the D5 and connecting roads in Plzeň which together create the so-called "Plzeň By-Pass".


D1: Higher Safety due to the New RMD Information System

The Czech Republic regularly occupies one of the highest positions in the statistics of tragic traffic accidents in Europe. On December 14, 2004 Road and Motorway Directorate therefore festively put into operation system of variable traffic signing on motorway D1, which should help to solve the situation.

From 13 December, 2004 on the delivery address for all sections of the directorate-general of RMD CR changes to: Čerčanská 12, CZ-14000 PRAHA 4. End of Traffic Restraint on the R43 in Brno - Řečkovice

RMD CR has finished reconstruction of the bridge over Hapalova Street in Brno - Řečkovice on expressway R43. The bridge was put into operation on December 2nd 2004. Construction was commenced in April 2003, total costs reached 114 thousand million CZK.


The Boring of Tunnel Panenská (2-km-long)

On Monday, November 29, festive boring of the western (left) tube in full profile took place in Tunnel Panenská in Krušné hory.


Road Conference 2004

Already the 12th Road Conference was held on October 19 and 20, 2004. This time it took place in the picturesque environment of Hradec Králové.


Next Section of the Future R48 Opened to Traffic

"Road I/48 Český Těšín - Žukov 2nd Construction" has been in construction since September 2001 and it was put into operation today. The newly built section of the road solves the diversion of traffic from the centre of Český Těšín in the direction from Frýdek - Místek to border crossing Chotěbuz (Cottbus), and to Poland.


Start of Operation of II/125 Ovčáry - Velký Osek D11

Since September 2003 a connection between the new automobile factory near Kolín with Motorway D11 had been under construction. Today it was put into operation. Road and Motorway Directorate CR was rather exceptionally a co-investor of this 2nd-class-road because of its eminent importance.


ROADWARE 2004

Road and Motorway Directorate (RSD) was again present at the International Road Fair Roadware 2004, which celebrated its tenth anniversary.
